Work in Progress: From June 22 to August 30, Railway Service Interruptions Between Bari and Gravina

“Work in progress, the journey continues by bus.” From June 22 to August 30, rail traffic between Bari Centrale and Gravina will be temporarily suspended: the section will undergo extraordinary maintenance and infrastructure upgrading; works related to the undergrounding of the second track in Modugno will also be carried out. A replacement bus service will be active throughout this period. Trains between Altamura and Matera Sud, however, will continue to run regularly. Rail service will partially reopen starting August 3, 2026, on the Grumo Appula–Gravina section, while it will remain suspended until August 30 on the Bari Centrale – Grumo Appula section. During the periods mentioned above, direct trains No. 12 Matera Sud–Bari at 7:45 AM and No. 47 Bari–Matera Sud at 6:55 PM will be canceled along the entire route and replaced by buses, with no changes to departure times. Furthermore, to facilitate passenger mobility and considering the high number of tourists on the Bari–Matera route, additional reinforcement buses have been scheduled to depart from Bari and travel directly to Matera and vice versa. The Company apologizes for the inconvenience and invites passengers to consult the notices, schedules, and arrival/departure stops for the replacement buses which, due to urban traffic requirements, do not always coincide with the areas outside the FAL railway stations. This is the case, for example, in Bari Centrale, where buses will depart and terminate at the FS Bus Terminal (Via Capruzzi); in Toritto, where they will pass through Via Pugliese; and in Grumo, where they will pass through Via Roma near the sports field.
