Potenza, Fal Tap&Go and the new App presented

Traveling aboard Fal vehicles is becoming increasingly smart! During a press conference in Potenza, the Fal Tap&Go service was presented, which allows travel on trains and buses of Ferrovie Appulo Lucane by purchasing tickets directly at the station and on board buses with a smartphone or contactless card, along with the new FAL APP, completely redesigned and made more efficient and accessible. The press conference was attended by the President of Ferrovie Appulo Lucane, Vittorio Zizza; the General Director, Stefano Di Bello; the Vice President and Regional Councillor for Infrastructure and Transport of the Basilicata Region, Pasquale Pepe.

“These new services aim to make Fal a company that is increasingly a model of efficiency and technological innovation – said President Vittorio Zizza – With Tap&Go and the new Fal App, we want to provide a more modern, valid and effective service also for tourists. Fal is in fact one of the first public transport companies in Southern Italy to introduce on all buses and all trains in Puglia and Basilicata the possibility of purchasing tickets directly at the turnstiles or on board buses with one’s phone or credit card. Fal, also thanks to the synergy with the MIT and the Basilicata Region, confirms itself as a company capable of guaranteeing increasingly high-quality services while looking to the future.”

“For several years now – said the General Director, Stefano Di Bello – we have focused on technological and digital innovation. All of this is aimed at simplifying citizens’ relationship with the local public transport system and facilitating user access to our services. For this reason, for Fal Tap&Go we have provided informational signage for users on vehicles and at stations, as well as a communication campaign. At the moment, very few stations/stops between Puglia and Basilicata remain excluded, but we will do everything to enable them. In the new version of the APP, we have improved accessibility and also incorporated the many reports received from our users, who used the old version of the APP, and from whom we naturally expect further feedback because our goal is to encourage the use of public transport also by making the service increasingly efficient and convenient.”

The synergy between the Basilicata Region and Ferrovie Appulo Lucane aims to simplify the travel experience, promote interconnection between different modes of transport and guide public transport towards a modern, digital and efficient dimension, capable of better responding also to the new mobility needs of tourists, students and commuters.”

Info on the features of Fal Tap&Go and the new Fal APP

With Fal Tap&Go it is possible to travel on trains and buses of Ferrovie Appulo Lucane by purchasing tickets directly at the turnstiles and POS terminals at stations and on board buses, by holding a contactless card or an enabled smartphone near the readers. On the train: simply hold your card or smartphone near the turnstiles or POS readers located near the platforms. The first TAP must be done at the departure station and the second TAP at the arrival station. The fare is calculated based on the route. On the bus: when boarding, select the destination, hold your card or smartphone near the reader and the system automatically calculates the fare.

The service is active on all buses and at stations/stops in Puglia and Basilicata with the exception, at the moment, of the following stations/stops: Mellitto, Pescariello, Marinella, Irsina, Genzano di Lucania, Tarantella, Acerenza, Pietragalla, San Nicola, Avigliano Lucania, Tiera, Potenza Macchia Romana, Moccaro.

New Fal App: simpler, more intuitive, and more efficient; it is a true hub for searching for journeys, purchasing tickets, and managing passes. Integration with the Fal Maps service—the innovative Ferrovie Appulo Lucane information system accessible via QR Code at every station and stop—includes the “Real-time” section, also updated, which allows for live monitoring of arrival and departure times for trains and buses from every station/stop. Developed according to the most modern digital accessibility criteria and also integrated with the new FAL Tap&Go service.
