The two escalators at the Bari Policlinico station of Ferrovie Appulo Lucane have been reactivated and reopened to the public. They had been temporarily closed at the beginning of 2025 due to the need for extraordinary maintenance work. The works were particularly demanding, as completely new systems were installed on existing structures, which also required a long and complex process for approval and testing by the relevant authorities. The stairs and the new systems comply with the latest and most modern safety standards. As part of these works, the Company also included the replacement and renewal of the LED lighting system for the pedestrian overpass. The reactivation of the escalators puts an end to the inconveniences reported in recent months by numerous users, especially those who access the station from Via delle Murge. The Company wishes to reiterate that these inconveniences never affected users with reduced mobility and/or in wheelchairs, whose transport has always been guaranteed, upon request for assistance from FAL staff, via the stairlift mounted on the fixed stairs.
