Bicycle transport on FAL trains: rules and conditions
Pubblicato il 17/04/2026
Ferrovie Appulo Lucane permits the free transport of muscle-powered bicycles on board STADLER trains, subject to available space. Specifically, it is possible to transport up to a maximum of 3 bicycles on two-car trainsets and up to 6 bicycles on three-car trainsets.
The availability of spaces is, however, subject to the presence of passengers with reduced mobility and wheelchair users, for whom these spaces are reserved as a priority.
Each traveler, in possession of a valid ticket, may transport only one bicycle free of charge.
The transport of muscle-powered velocipedes, scooters (including electric ones), and any other predominantly electric-powered self-balancing devices (hoverboards and monowheels) is also permitted, as well as muscle-powered gait enhancers (skates, skateboards, etc.), provided they are not bulky and are managed in a way that ensures safety on board.
Folding bicycles are always permitted free of charge on trains and buses, provided they are stored in a dedicated bag and do not exceed dimensions of 70x50x30 cm.
Groups intending to travel with bicycles in tow must submit a prior request via email to relazioniesterne@ferrovieappulolucane.it at least 7 days before departure to verify feasibility.
On-board staff may in any case prohibit the transport of bicycles if the maximum permitted number is exceeded or for safety reasons.
Rules of conduct
Inside stations and railway areas:
- bicycles must be parked exclusively in the dedicated racks;
- access for FAT BIKES and E-BIKES is prohibited;
- velocipedes must be walked by hand in permitted areas;
- it is mandatory to respect signage, prohibitions, and safety regulations;
- it is necessary to avoid obstructions or hazards to people and property;
- crossing the yellow line on platforms is not permitted;
- skates, boards, and similar devices must be properly stored.
Liability
The traveler is responsible for any damage caused to themselves, other passengers, or company property during all phases of the journey.
Sanctions
Violation of these provisions entails administrative fines ranging from 20 to 50 euros, without prejudice to further liabilities provided for by current legislation.
